Job Summary

Supervises Nonimmigrant Visa Unit (NIV) Local Engaged Staff (LES). Assists the NIV Unit Chief and the Consular Chief in managing the unit’s workload and in directing and developing the performance of three NIV assistants. Serves as the primary point of contact (POC) for diplomatic, official, and referral cases. Performs and supervises visa processing work including reviewing applications, performing data entry, capturing fingerprints and photos, and printing visas. Has joint responsibility to ensure that all applications are received, reviewed for fraud, entered, and processed according to the laws and procedures. 



Responsible for employee evaluations, training, and professional development of staff.  Assists with requests for expedited interview appointments and handling of problem cases. Is cross-trained in cashiering, fraud prevention, immigrant visa processing, crisis management, and/or citizen services, serving as backup in at least one of the respective functions as needed. 

Essential qualifications

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Two years office work experience, to include one year of Consular/Visa experience and 6 months supervisory experience.

Education Requirements: Completion of Secondary School or Local Mandatory Schooling and received high school diploma

LANGUAGE: Fluent Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required.
Fluent Speaking/Reading/Writing Swedish is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to develop and maintain a range of working and senior-level contacts in governmental and other relevant circles. Ability to carry out complex research projects and to prepare precise and accurate factual and analytical reports. Ability to interpret political events and their significance. Ability to develop and maintain contacts and to acquire sensitive information. Communication is vital to this position and inter-personal skills of great importance.
