Job Summary
The Embassy of Canada in Khartoum, Sudan is soliciting applications for an International Assistance Officer. Under the direct supervision of the International Assistance Program Manager, the International Assistance Officer will provide programme and administrative support to the Embassy’s Development Section.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- developing and maintaining contact networks
- conducting research and analysis; monitoring and evaluation
- reviewing and drafting programming documents
- representing the Development Section in meetings, committees and/or working groups with international assistance stakeholders
- management of information and documentation in accordance with established policies, guidelines and procedures
- support official and/or high-level visits
- managing social media relating to the development program
- managing projects as required
- providing advice/recommendations on a range of development and country context issues
- be accountable for proper documentation and mission office processes that underpin Canada’s development funding in Sudan
- performing other related duties

Essential qualifications
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
Language:
• Fluency in English (oral and written)
• Fluency in Arabic (oral and written)
Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years’ development experience in Sudan, including in research and analysis, planning, administration, implementation of policy and procedures, stakeholder relationships, and project management
• Experience in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Office, internet search engines and social media tools
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of the socio-economic development landscape, including key government and international assistance stakeholders, in Sudan
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (for example, Excel, Word, Outlook)
